Tools by Atharva

Tools by Atharva provides browser-based utilities for common image, PDF, audio, GIF, collage, text, developer and general-purpose tasks.

The project is designed around a privacy-first architecture in which files are processed locally in the browser wherever technically practical.

Inspiration

We gratefully acknowledge Pi7.org and its associated image, PDF, audio, collage and bulk-resizing services for inspiration relating to tool categories, workflows and user experience.

Tools by Atharva is an independent project and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by or operated by Pi7.org.

No claim is made to Pi7.org trademarks, branding, artwork, proprietary template designs or proprietary source code.

Tools by Atharva uses its own implementation, user interface and browser-side processing architecture.

Development assistance

Development assistance was provided using ChatGPT by OpenAI.

AI assistance was used for activities including:

  • product and feature research;
  • software architecture;
  • HTML, CSS and JavaScript development;
  • browser-side processing workflows;
  • debugging and quality assurance;
  • privacy and security reviews;
  • technical documentation; and
  • drafting public-facing policy and attribution materials.

AI-assisted material was reviewed and integrated as part of the development process.

Responsibility for production deployment, configuration, operation, legal compliance and ongoing maintenance remains with the operator of Tools by Atharva.

Open-source software

Tools by Atharva uses or may use open-source projects to provide specialised browser-side functionality.

pdf-lib PDF creation and manipulation
Mozilla PDF.js PDF parsing and rendering
Tesseract.js Browser-based OCR
FFmpeg / ffmpeg.wasm Browser-side multimedia processing
JSZip ZIP archive creation and reading
gifenc GIF encoding
heic2any HEIC image conversion
QRCode.js QR code generation
bcrypt.js bcrypt hashing
hash-wasm WebAssembly hashing algorithms
Mammoth.js DOCX extraction and conversion

Copyright notices, licence conditions and attribution requirements supplied by each respective upstream project continue to apply.

Where a library includes codecs, WebAssembly components, trained data or transitive dependencies, the applicable licences and notices for those components also apply.

Web platform technologies

Tools by Atharva relies extensively on capabilities provided by modern web browsers, including:

  • HTML and CSS;
  • JavaScript;
  • Canvas;
  • Web Audio;
  • WebAssembly;
  • Web Workers;
  • File and Blob APIs;
  • MediaDevices; and
  • other standards-based browser APIs.

External data providers

A small number of utilities may require external live data. The current application may use services such as:

  • Frankfurter for user-requested foreign exchange information; and
  • ipapi.co for user-requested IP information.

These external requests are separate from local file-processing workflows.

Software distribution services

Some advanced processing components may be delivered to the browser using content-distribution services such as jsDelivr, unpkg or esm.sh.

Where practical, dependencies are version-pinned. Progressive self-hosting of audited runtime dependencies is preferred for stronger supply-chain control.

Infrastructure

Tools by Atharva may use Cloudflare and other hosting infrastructure for functions such as DNS, TLS, reverse proxying, caching, availability and security.

Optional browser tracking or analytics functionality is not required for normal operation of the application.

Independent ownership

All trademarks, product names, project names and service names referenced by Tools by Atharva remain the property of their respective owners.

Mention of a project or service is for attribution, interoperability, dependency identification or descriptive purposes and does not imply endorsement, sponsorship or affiliation.

Licence compliance

This page provides public acknowledgement but does not replace licence notices that may be legally required when redistributing particular software.

When third-party libraries are self-hosted or redistributed, their applicable copyright notices, licences and required attribution files should be preserved with the deployed software.
